On a nice, cooler rainy day, I proceeded with the install, to test the hypothesis that I can have it all.įirst, take apart the dash trim and pull the head unit. When the Pilot's parking lights or headlights are on, so does a little light where the cassette goes in, as well as in its big eject button. So here's what my front console stack looks like now, with the newly acquired tape player discreetly appearing at the bottom. I may eventually hardwire the dashcam's power cable into the passenger side inside fuse box the the right of the footwell, but that'll be a project for another day. I like to monitor my Pilot's battery voltage. I replugged my voltmeter/3 USB outlet, then my dashcam 12v power plug into that. I made use of the 3 foam pads (not bubble gum, after all ) that came with the bus cable to put under the player to attenuate any potential slippage and vibrations. I still have access to its AUX out and USB charger port and in fact keep their respective cables plugged in, tucked away in the narrow space up above the cassette player, ready to be deployed at a moment's notice. In my case, I inserted the cassette player all the way down at the bottom, where it fits perfectly under the "not an ashtray" section, tucked up against my GTA Car Kit module I had velcroed up against the the right side of that cubby area. Reinstall the bottom "not an ashtray" and 12v "not a cigarette lighter" socket module and trim. Once you're sure it works, turn off the ignition, unplug the bus cable from the cassette player and fish it through the back of the console to behind where you want to install the player.
